I didn’t prioritize visiting León when I was planning my trip. If I could redo my trip, I would prioritize experiencing this iconic sandboarding activity because I’ve since heard it’s worthwhile.
Maderas Volcano is one of the two volcanoes that make Ometepe Island popular and beautiful. I chose to hike Concepción over Maderas because the former is higher, and the latter is usually even more cloudy.
Masaya Volcano is popular for its lava-filled crater. I skipped it because I’ve already seen lava in Iceland and Guatemala.
🏝️ Corn Islands
Corn Island is known as a tropical paradise. It’s a bit far to get to (90 minutes by flight, 5 hours by boat), so I would only prioritize it if I had stayed in Nicaragua for longer then 2 weeks.
